EVAN BRITTON OF OGLETHORPE UNIVERSITY, a senior from Smyrna, Ga., has been selected the SCAC Character & Community Male Student-Athlete-of-the-Week for the week ending October 10, 2010.

Britton, a member and captain of the mens' soccer team, has scored one goal for the Petrels this season from his defender position.

In addition to the outstanding work he does guarding the Petrels' back line on the pitch, Britton also serves as one of the athletics departments primary student workers.

His main duties in that role revolve around helping head tennis coach Peter Howell manage both the Oglethorpe outdoor and intramurals program, and he has even been known to re-string a tennis racquet for a fellow student from time-to-time - if asked nicely.
