MICHAEL RARDON
OF DEPAUW UNIVERSITY, a junior on the
men's tennis team from Indianapolis, Ind., has been selected
the SCAC Character & Community Male Student-Athlete-of-the-Week
for the week ending May 8, 2011.
A communication major and economics minor at DePauw,
Rardon has distinguished himself both on and off
the tennis courts. Playing number one singles and number two
doubles, primarily, Rardon has a 15-16 singles
mark and a 22-5 doubles record this season and is currently ranked
10th in singles in the Central Region.
An All-SCAC honoree again this season, Rardon
serves as a captain for the 17th-ranked Tigers and has also been
part of DePauw's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. He is
53-39 in singles matches and 62-24 in doubles play in his career.
He was an all-SCAC selection as a sophomore and named to the SCAC
All-Tournament Team as a freshman as well as the inaugural SCAC
All-Sportsmanship Tennis Team.
Rardon has interned at the Breckenridge Outdoor
Education Center where he served as a ski instructor for children
with mental and physical disabilities. He also has volunteered as a
coach for the Washington Township Tennis Camp during two
summers.
Rardon also has been involved with the Big Brother
Big Sister Program since 2008 and, in the summer of 2010, he
studied abroad at the Trinity Rome Campus.
