ABI
O'CONNOR OF SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY,
a sophomore catcher on the Pirate softball team, has been
selected the SCAC Character & Community Female
Student-Athlete-of-the-Week for the week ending April 3, 2011.
O'Connor, who hails from San Antonio, Texas,
routinely takes on leadership roles - both for the softball
program and throughout the Southwestern community. She headed up
the softball team's fundraising effort for breast cancer research
by designing t-shirts and organizing workers for the fundraiser
that raised over $1000.
In addition, O'Connor is a student worker for
SIRA and she is a member of the Pirate Crew, which helps to
organize and run activities at sporting events on
campus.
O'Connor was picked as captain for the softball
team because of her dedication to the game as she is the first
one to arrive at practice each day and the last
one to leave.
She uses that same dedication in the classroom and in the
community.
