TARA MOLINA OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a sophomore guard from San Antonio, Texas, has been named the SCAC Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for games played from Monday, January 21 through Sunday, January 27. 

Molina posted a triple-double on Saturday to lead the Bulldogs to victory over Trinity with 13 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists. The sophomore’s performance on Saturday marks the 21st time that a SCAC women’s basketball player has recorded a triple-double since the league started tracking the stat in 2001-02 and the first time since 2015 that a player has accomplished the feat.

Other Outstanding Performances:

For the third straight week, Austin College senior forward Bryce Frank averaged a double-double with 26.0 points and 11.0 rebounds per game. Frank’s double-double total continues to grow with 14 so far this season and six straight. Freshman guard Katey Guzman put together a pair of 24-point performances over the weekend for Johnson & Wales, guiding the Wildcats to their first two wins as members of the SCAC. Colorado College sophomore guard McKenzee Gertz tallied a season’s best performance against Dallas on Friday, scoring 26 points and eight rebounds. Junior forward Abby Holland of Trinity averaged 21.0 points and five rebounds per game last week. On Tuesday, junior center Cecily Woolfolk paced Southwestern with 21 points against Trinity. Centenary senior guard Savanah Doty matched her career-high, dropping 21 points in the Ladies loss to Austin College on Tuesday. Sophomore forward Jules Oliveti of Dallas posted a career-high 24 points in the Crusaders loss to Johnson & Wales.
