AVERY FINCH OF THE UNIVERSITY OF DALLAS, a senior outfielder from Jamul, Calif., has been named the SCAC Softball Offensive Player of the Week for games played from Monday, April 17th through Sunday, April 23rd.
Finch posted eight hits and batted .667 (8-12) as the Crusaders took three of four games from Austin College to close out the 2017 campaign.
The leadoff hitter, who also slugged .833, provided a spark at the top of the lineup all four games as she recorded a hit in each to combine for eight overall while scoring six runs. Finch also swiped eight stolen bases over the series as the program's all-time leader in the categroy had three on Senior Day alone to get 100 for her career.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Freshman infielder Andrea Hern of Southwestern hit .455 (5-11) with two RBIs as the Pirates took 3 of 4 games from Trinity over the weekend. Junior shortstop Rebecca Berreth of Trinity hit .444 (4-9) with two doubles and two runs scored in Trinity's final week of the regular season. Berreth hit 2-3 with a run scored in the opening game of the series against Southwestern, then reached base twice in three plate appearances in the team's 1-0 win over the Pirates. She was 2-5 with two doubles in Sunday's doubleheader, as well as drawing a walk in each game.
