SCAC Men's Cross Country Recap - Week Seven

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga.
- All seven Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference men's cross country teams were in action this past week as teams made their final preparations in advance of the 2016 SCAC Cross Country Championship.

Southwestern University is hosting this year's conference championship meet which will be contested on Saturday, October 29th at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock, Texas.

Three of the seven were at the University of Dallas Invitational where the host school posted the best finish among the trio as the Crusaders finished sixth out of the 10 schools who scored.

With a score of 145, Dallas finished ahead of eighth-place Austin College (209) and ninth-place Schreiner University (241). Sophomore Thomas Hogan paced the Crusaders for the fourth straight meet as he covered the 5K course in a time of 16:39.3 - good for a sixth-place finish. Freshman John James also posted a top-10 finish, coming in eighth with a time of 17:03.5.

Freshman Matthew Gregory paced Austin College with a 15th-place finish (17:29.8) and Schreiner senior Danny Gonzales was the top finisher for the Mountaineers with a 41st-place finish (18:36.0).

Texas Lutheran University and Southwestern University finished 1-2 at the Southwestern Invitational on Friday evening. The Bulldogs had three runners finish in the top four, including the overall winner junior Donald Manuszewski who crossed the line in a time of 16:40. Junior Rudolph Calderon was third in a time of 16:59 and sophomore Cameron Reagan was fourth in a time of 17:04. The Pirates were paced by freshman Joshua Im, who placed fifth in the 5,000-meter event with a time of 17:06.

Sparked by an 18th-place finish by freshman Tony Calderon, the Colorado College men's cross country team placed second at the Lewis & Clark Invitational Saturday in Portland, Ore. Calderon ran the 8K course in a time of 26 minutes, 31 seconds.

The Trinity men turned in solid performance Saturday at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh Kollege Town Sports Invitational where the Tigers placed 18th among 37 teams - nine of which were ranked in the top 35 nationally. Senior Austin Brown finished 68th among 560 runners in a time of 26:22, pacing the Tiger men's team in the 8K race.
