Colorado College's Castaneda Selected SCAC Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Coach-of-the-Year

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. -- Colorado College's Ted Castaneda has been selected Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Coach-of-the-Year for both men's and women's cross country in exclusive voting by the head coaches in the conference.

The CC Tigers swept both the men's and women's team titles on Saturday, October 29 at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock, Texas. It was the second men's title for Colorado College in the last three years and the sixth overall. The championship on the women's side represents the program's third straight.

The CC women went on to finish third at the NCAA Division III West Regional Championships this past Saturday in Salem, Ore., and earned an at-large berth in the NCAA Division III National Championship meet in Louisville, Ky.

"We are very excited to receive a bid to the national meet," Castaneda said. "Our women have been working hard for an entire year to make this happen. It is well deserved and we are looking forward to running at the meet as a team."

The last time Colorado College competed at the national meet as a team was 2007.

Since his programs joined the conference prior to the 2006 season, Castaneda has been honored as SCAC Men's Cross Country Coach-of-the-Year six times while the honor is his third straight for his work with the women.

Castaneda has served as head coach of the men's cross country team at CC since 1980 and took over as head coach for women's cross country in 1993.
