MELISSA WHITMAN OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a freshman from Carrollton, Texas, has been named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Cross Country Runner-of-the-Week for meets run through Sunday, October 5th.
Whitman led Trinity to a ninth-place finish among top-notch competition at the Arkansas Chile Pepper Festival this past weekend.
Whitman was second among Tiger runners, finishing less than three seconds behind top Trinity finisher Michelle Oberndorf. Whitman’s time of 18:45.8 ranks in the top 10 among all-time records at Trinity. In high school,
Whitman’s personal record was over 19 minutes.
