AVERY TUGGLE OF TRINITY UNIVERSIY, a junior outside hitter from Cedar Creek, Texas, has been named the SCAC Volleyball Offensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Friday, August 30 through Monday, September 2.

Tuggle led the 17th-ranked Trinity volleyball team to a 4-0 record at its National Invitational Tournament, including two victories over nationally-ranked opponents. She was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player after she scored double-doubles against both #15 Mary Hardin-Baylor (19 kills, 19 digs) and #25 Saint Benedict (15 kills, 10 digs), and hit over .300 in three of the four matches.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior outside hitter Bryten Mitchan of Texas Lutheran led the Bulldogs to a 3-1 record at the Bulldog Challenge. Mitchan was named to the All-Tournament Team after hitting .462 over four matches and registering 43 total kills. She had 13 kills and hit .400 in the victory over Sul Ross State, and added 11 kills and hit .846 in the win over Louisiana College. In the four-set loss to McMurry, Mitchan posted 14 kills and a .333 hitting percentage. Junior outside hitter Allie Freeburg of Colorado College was voted to the All-Tournament team as she averaged 3.18 kills and 2.37 digs per set, and hit a team-high .323 at the CC Classic. Freeburg recorded a career-high 22 kills to lead CC to a come-from-behind victory over UW-Oshkosh in the tournament finale. She planted 10 kills and hit a match-high .750 to lead the Tigers to a 25-15, 25-15, 25-20 victory over Millsaps in the first match of the season, and produced 13 kills, nine digs and three blocked shots in the loss to Clarkson when the Tigers finished the match without three starters. First-year outside hitter Elleanna McGown of Southwestern earned All-Tournament honors at the Southwestern Fall Invitational after totalling 28 kills with a .256 hitting percentage during the event. She posted seven kills against tournament champion Carthage and 10 against Whitworth, and also totaled six blocks and five service aces, combining for 36 points and 3.0 per set.
