Erika Edrington, Trinity University, Offensive Player of the Week (Week 8)

ERIKA EDRINGTON OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a senior setter from Houston, Texas, has been named SCAC Volleyball Offensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday, October 17th through Sunday, October 23rd. 

Edrington led the 18th-ranked Trinity volleyball team to a 5-1 overall record last week, including a 4-0 sweep at the SCAC Cross-Divisional that clinched the regular season conference championship.

Edrington scored a pair of double-doubles in a win over Division II St. Mary's and NAIA school Our Lady of the Lake. She had 39 assists, 14 digs, and 5 blocks in the win over St. Mary's, followed by 20 assists and 13 digs against OLLU the next night.

In the 3-2 upset win over sixth-ranked Colorado College, Edrington posted a season-best 50 assists to go with 18 digs and a .240 team hitting percentage. She also had a double-double against Austin College, piling up 38 assists and 13 digs.

Overall last week, Edrington piled up 133 assists and 13 blocks in the six matches. With her leadership, the Tigers posted a .251 hitting percentage as a team. During the week, Edrington became the fifth player in Trinity volleyball history to pass 4,000 assists for a career, moving into fourth place on the all-time Tiger list. 

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior outside hitter Kristin Fording of Texas Lutheran University hit .655 in a three-set win over Dallas and .385 in a three-set win over Centenary. For the week, she racked up 53 kills and hit .364, while adding 50 digs (4.17 per set), 6 blocks and 3 service aces. Senior outside hitter Marin Guilfoyle of the University of Dallas led the Crusaders with 55 kills (3.24 k/s), including 45 against conference foes in a quartet of SCAC matches. Guilfoyle posted a week-high 16 kills in a win versus Schreiner University that helped Dallas secure the 5th seed in the conference tournament. Senior outsider hitter Abbe Holtze of Colorado College helped lead Colorado College to a 3-1 record over the weekend, including a win over No. 4 Southwestern. Holtze accumulated 62 kills, 7 service aces, 55 digs, 7 assists, and 5 blocks in the 4 matches. Sophomore setter Katie Ingle of Austin College had a big week, surpassing 1,000 assists for the year and averaging 10.87 assists per set in five matches, including 11.0 assists per set in SCAC competition. Sophomore outside hitter Hailey Lawson of Centenary College had quite the week with 21 aces, including breaking the single-match Centenary record with 10 against Texas College. She took over the SCAC lead in both aces per set (0.61) and total aces (57). Her 10 aces in the match is tied for the most in nine-seasons in the SCAC. Junior middle blocker Piper Sisemore of Southwestern University helped the Pirates to a 4-1 record, hitting nearly 400 for the week to lead SU in percentage while averaging 3.35 kills per set with 13 total blocks.
