KIRBY SMITH OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a junior outside hitter from Pilot Point, Tx., has been named SCAC Volleyball Offensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday, September 26th through Sunday, October 2nd.
Smith played a key role in Trinity's 2nd win over #18th ranked Elmhurst.
Smith recorded 19 kills and hit an impressive .381. Smith was also 2nd on the team in digs with 19.
Smith had 3 double-doubles out of 4 matches last week with 20 kills in the 2 matches against Edgewood and UW-Whitewater.
Smith led the team in kills in all 4 matches with a total of 76 and was 2nd on the team in digs with 52, while also recording 4 aces in the process.
On the weekend Smith hit .295 and averaged over 4 kills/set. Smith ended the weekend by making the All-Tournament Team for her impressive performances.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior outside hitter Reagan Folaron of Colorado College led the Tigers with 8 kills to help Colorado College sweep Johnson & Wales, 3-0. Folaron averaged 2.67 kills a set, while hitting a .250 attack percentage on 24 attempts with just 2 errors. Senior middle blocker Presleigh Watson of Austin College had a big week for the 'Roos as they went 2-0, averaging 3.86 kills per set with a .500 hitting percentage. Watson added a pair of service aces and 1.29 blocks per set, while notching 12 kills in a win over Arlington Baptist and 15 in a three set sweep of Concordia-Texas.
