KATE MITCHELL OF SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY, a junior right side hitter, has been named SCAC Volleyball Offensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday, September 12th through Sunday, September 18th.
Mitchell hit 3.80 kills per set during conference play this weekend and .333 kills per set for the week including an astounding .469 hitting percentage against Trinity to go undefeated on the week.
Mitchell posted double-digit kills against Trinity and Texas Lutheran posting 4.25 and 4 kills per set, respectively.
Mitchell also had just 7 errors on the week while posting 45 kills.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior middle blocker Rebekah Bowden of Austin College averaged 2.5 kills with a .360 hitting percentage in four matches last week. Senior outside hitter Kristin Fording of Texas Luther University recorded 38 kills, 34 digs, and 6 blocks while averaging 4.6 points per set over the three matches. Junior outside hitter Kirby Smith of Trinity University tallied 37 total kills for an average of 3.36 kills/set over the weekend, hitting .248 for the Tigers. Junior middle hitter Glenna Yancey of Colorado College led the team with a .486 hitting percentage with 20 kills in 37 attempts with just 2 errors in 8 sets played.
