Abbe Holtze, Colorado College, Offensive Co-Player of the Week (Week 1)

ABBE HOLTZE OF COLORADO COLLEGE, a senior outside hitter from Manhattan Beach, Calif., has been named SCAC Volleyball Offensive Co-Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Thursday, September 1st through Sunday, September 4th. 

Holtze was named the Colorado College Classic tournament MVP after leading the Tigers to a perfect 4-0 record with 38 kills, 35 digs, 6 service aces and 3 blocks.

Holtze averaged 9.5 kills and 8.75 digs a match, while hitting a combined .337 attack percentage on 38 kills in 83 attempts with just 10 errors.

Holtze opened the season with a team-high 9 kills, 8 digs and 4 aces in a 3-0 win over Hardin-Simmons. Holtze then led the team with her first double-double of the season on 12 kills and 11 digs, while adding two aces in a 3-0 sweep of Lewis & Clarl. 

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior middle blocker Rebekah Bowden of Austin College averaged a team-best 2.76 kills per set while boasting a .321 hitting percentage. Bowden also had 21 total blocks in 21 sets. Sophomore outside hitter Ashley Brown of Centenary College managed 10+ kills in her last 3 matches. Senior outside hitter Kristin Fording of Texas Lutheran University averaged 3.07 kills and 3.93 digs per set in a 2-2 weekend for the Bulldogs. Junior outside hitter Madeline McKay of Trinity University finished the weekend with 43 total kills, as well as 2 service aces and 4 blocks to go with her 26 digs. Junior outside hitter Mart Scholz of the University of Dallas had 58 kills, recording double digits in all but one match and two double-doubles.
