Presleigh Watson, Austin College, Defensive Player of the Week (Week 9)

PRESLEIGH WATSON OF AUSTIN COLLEGE, a senior middle blocker from Oklahoma City, has been named SCAC Volleyball Defensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday, October 24th through Sunday, October 30th. 

Watson was dominant at the net for the 'Roos, averaging 1.27 blocks per set in four matches and 11 total sets, as Austin College went 4-0.

Watson totaled 14 blocks over the course of the weekend, while also averaging 2.82 kills pet set, 3 service aces, and 11 digs.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:

Freshman libero Anna Gurolnick of Colorado College helped CC finish its regular season with a 25-4 record with a 3-0 sweep of Johnson & Wales University. Gurolnick led the back row with 13 digs and tied her career-high 3 service aces. Senior middle blocker Kirby Kincannon of Southwestern University averaged one block per set with 11 blocks on the week, including 2 solo blocks. Sophomore outside hitter Hailey Lawson of Centenary College had quite the week, leading the team with 19 digs, adding a block and no reception errors on 29 receptions. Junior libero Mathis Popelsky of Texas Lutheran University tied her career-high for digs with 36 in a four-set home win over Concordia Texas. Sophomore libero Amelia Roden of Trinity University led the Tiger volleyball team to a 3-1 record at the Trinity National Invitational over the weekend, tallying 44 digs (2.75/set) in the four matches, as well as piling up 5 service aces.
