ABBE HOLTZE OF COLORADO COLLEGE, a senior outside hitter from Manhattan Beach, California, has been named SCAC Volleyball Defensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday, October 10th through Sunday, October 16th.
Holtze helped lead the Tigers to a 4-0 record, including victories over No. 12 Eastern University, No. 23 Millikin University, to win the tournament championship of the Pikes Peak Challenge.
Holtze was an all-tournament team selection, recording 52 digs and 11 blocks, while leading the team with 58 kills during the week. Holtze averaged a double-double with 14.5 kills and 13 digs.
Holtze began the week with 10 digs and tied her season-high 4 blocks in a 3-1 win over Luther College. She also led the team with 14 kills to earn her 12th double-double of the season.
Holtze then picked up her 13th double-double with 23 kills and 15 digs, while again tying her season-high 4 blocks for the second match in a row in a 3-2 victory over No. 12 Eastern.
Holtze began the second day of the tournament with 17 digs, 3 blocks, 9 kills, and 2 aces in a 3-2 win over No. 23 Millikin.
Holtze finished the week with 10 digs and a team-best 12 kills for her 14th double-double of the season in a 3-0 sweep of Concordia College.

Senior libero Andie Alford of Southwestern University helped the Pirates to a 3-0 week, averaging just under 5 digs per set (4.69), while adding 3 aces and an assist. Junior libero Tatiana Ferrari of Austin College had an outstanding weekend to help Austin College go 2-1 in non-conference play with 57 digs (5.18 per set), 3 aces, and only 2 reception errors in three matches. Senior middle blocker Presleigh Watson of Austin College helped the Roos' to a 2-1 week with 17 digs and 16 blocks, while adding 34 kills for the week.
