GLENNA YANCEY OF COLORADO COLLEGE, a junior middle hitter from Greenwood Village, Colo., has been named SCAC Volleyball Defensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Tuesday, September 6th through Sunday, September 11th. 

Yancey was a force on both sides of the net while helping lead Colorado College to the 2016 CC Invitational title with 4-0 mark, which included four-set victories over Springfield College and No. 14 University of Texas at Dallas.

Yancey finished the four matches with a .426 attack percentage and averaged 2.5 kills and 1.3 blocks per set. Yancey tied her season high with four blocked shots in the final three matches and her presence in the front row helped limit opponents to a combined .059 hitting percentage for the weekend.

In what proved to be the championship match of the tournament, Yancey pounded down a career-high 15 kills and hit .520 in the in the 23-25, 25-19, 25-18, 25-22 win over UTD. Earlier that day, she hit .583 in the 25-20, 25-14, 25-14 win over Whitman.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior defensive specialist Andie Alford of Southwestern University led the Pirates defensively to a 4-0 weekend and a perfect 12-0 in sets to remain undefeated this season. Senior middle blocker Carlie Childres of Texas Lutheran University collected 16 blocks and 24 kills in 4 matches to go with 32.5 points and 1.07 blocks per set. Freshman setter Lizzie Counts of Colorado College led the team with 54 digs and 5 aces while earning double-doubles in all 4 matches. Senior libero Jessie Koster of the University of Dallas recorded 98 digs and 4 aces in the four weekend matches. Junior defensive specialist Madi McVay of Austin College totaled 53 digs and added 4 service aces, against just five total reception errors in four matches. Sophomore defensive specialist Sarah Mullens of Trinity University finished the weekend with 45 total digs, picking up double figures in all four matches en route to Trinity becoming co-champions of the Trinity Fall Classic Tournament.
