ASHLEY DEBAUGE OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a junior from Emporia, Kansas, has been named the SCAC Women’s Tennis Player of the Week for matches played from Monay, February 11 through Sunday, February 17.
DeBauge led the 21st-ranked Tiger women's tennis team to a 2-0 record against Division III teams and a 2-1 overall record last week. DeBauge suffered a loss against Division II St. Edward's on Thursday, but came back with a three-set win over #27 Whitman on Saturday night. After Trinity fell behind 3-1 in the match, DeBauge's 5-7, 6-3, 10-5 win at line two evened the score at 3-3 to set the Tigers up for the win.
Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore Mariana Quetzeri of Southwestern went 3-0 at No. 3 singles to help the Pirates a perfect 3-0 start to the spring portion of their 2019 season. Ouetzeri earned a 6-1, 6-3 victory over her opponent in the win against George Fox on Friday and then followed that up with a pair of 6-0, 6-3 victories in the Pirates' victories over McMurry and Hardin-Simmons. Sophomore Kate De Los Santos of Schreiner picked up a 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 1 singles against Mary Hardin-Baylor on Saturday.
