LIZA SOUTHWICK OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a senior from Nashville, Tenn., has been named the SCAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week for matches played through Sunday February 12th.
Southwick led the 23rd-ranked Tiger women's tennis team to a pair of road shutouts last weekend, blanking a pair of regionally ranked teams, McMurry and Hardin-Simmons.
Southwick scored two singles victories at the top line on Friday, as well as two line two wins with doubles partner Mary Kaffen.
Southwick is 3-1 in singles so far this season, as well as a perfect 4-0 in doubles play.She has four doubles wins with three different doubles partners. Her only singles loss this season came against Division I University of the Incarnate Word.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Anamariia Kheveli of Austin College had a big weekend for the 'Roos, going undefeated at line five singles and line three doubles. Alli McLain of Texas Lutheran University led the Bulldogs to a 7-2 win over Sul Ross State, winning at No. 1 doubles, 9-7, and No. 1 singles, 6-3, 6-3.
