CAROLINE KUTACH OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a sophomore from McGregor, Texas, has been named the SCAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week for matches played through Sunday February 5th.
Kutach went 2-0 in singles and 3-0 in doubles last week as she helped the Tigers to a split of two matches on opening weekend.
Kutach's doubles victories included matches against NCAA Division I University of the Incarnate Word and Division II St. Edward's. From the No. 2 spot, she scored a 6-0, 6-0 singles win against Birminham Southern College and won 7-5, 6-3 against her UIW opponent.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore Taite Drews-Jones of Southwestern University won her only match of the week, defeating the No. 1 singles player from St. Edwards 6-4, 5-7, 1-0 (10-8). Junior Alli McLain of Texas Lutheran University posted a 7-5, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles against Birmingham Southern last week.
