KRISTEN CANEPA OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a sophomore defender from Westlake Village, Calif., has been selected the SCAC Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for the week beginning October 16th.
Canepa led 11th-ranked Trinity in securing SCAC Regular Season Championship with a pair of shutout victories in SCAC play last weekend.
Canepa and the Tiger defense held the two teams to just two total shots in 180 minutes of action, posting the team's 12th and 13th shutouts of the season. Trinity only allowed two shots in Friday's win over Centenary, then held Austin to zero shots in the weekend finale to clinch the regular season title.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore goalkeeper Stephanie Barrientos of Texas Lutheran University recorded the shutout as the Bulldogs won 2-0 at the University of Dallas. Barrientos stopped a shot on goal and preserved the shutout and the conference victory.
