SARA BOWEN OF
RHODES COLLEGE, a sophomore right-hander from
Franklin, Tenn., has been selected the SCAC Softball
Pitcher-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, March 9 through
Sunday, March 15.
Bowen picked up a win and a save on the week,
tossing her second consecutive no-hitter on Wednesday against
Blackburn. In the game, Bowen struck out 12 and
allowed just two base runners, a walk and a hit batter.
On Tuesday against MacMurray, Bowen picked up the
save, coming in with the bases loaded and two outs and striking out
MacMurray’s cleanup hitter.
Bowen currently has a 12 1/3 inning hitless
inning streak, in which she is 3-0 with a save and has accumulated
22 strikeouts. She currently has a 4-1 record, a 1.46 ERA and 36
strikeouts in 24 innings pitched. In addition, Bowen is hitting
.514 at the plate, with 5 doubles, a home run and 11 RBI.
