HANNAH ORTIZ OF SCHREINER UNIVERSITY, a sophomore pitcher from Boling, Texas, has been named the SCAC Softball Pitcher of the Week for games played through February 18th.
Ortiz was crucial in the Mountaineer's game against Concordia. Ortiz pitched an ERA of .88 in her eight innings pitched.
Ortiz only allowed five hits in the 2-1 win.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior pitcher Margeaux Smith of Centenary College entered the game in the bottom of the seventh in a save situation against Hendrix on Saturday, she retired the side in order for her first collegiate save. She also threw the final four innings in the tight 5-4 win over Westminster.
