JONCONNOR RULE OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a freshman defender from San Antonio, Texas, has been named the SCAC Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for games played through Sunday, September 22nd.
Rule led the Tigers to a 6-0 non-conference win over Dallas in the team’s only game last week. Rule anchored Trinity’s defense that allowed just eight shots and posted its first shutout of the season, as well as scoring the eventual game-winner midway through the first period. Sunday marked the first career goal for the Tiger defender, as well as the first game-winning goal of his career.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior midfielder Luis Ramirez of Southwestern helped steady a Pirates team that allowed just one goal in two contests last week as SU extended its winning streak to five-straight with victories over Johnson & Wales and Colorado College. Ramirez also contributed offensively as well scoring a goal off a free kick in the won over JWU. Junior goalkeeper Omar Lopez of St. Thomas collected three saves and posted a shutout in the Celts, 1-0, win over Concordia (Tex.) last Sunday.
