Andrew Celio, Austin College, Men's Soccer - Defensive Player of the Week (Week 1)

ANDREW CELIO OF AUSTIN COLLEGE, a senior goalkeeper from San Antonio, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Men’s Soccer Player of the Week for matches played Friday, August 29 through Monday, September 1.

Celio recorded a shutout against East Texas Baptist University in the ‘Roos double-overtime draw. In the game, he marked nine saves, holding off ETBU’s last second shot that would have given them the win.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior Jake Morrison of Centenary helped lead the Gents to a season opening 5-3 win at East Texas Baptist ... Provided a stellar backline for the Maroon and White in the victory.Senior defender James Bernard of Dallas led a defense that allowed only 11 shots on goal over two matches on the week ... the Crusaders blocked five shots, overall. Sophomore defender Jacob Buckley of Southwestern did not start in either game, but came off the bench to organize the backs and even initiated the offense with his distribution.
