YURI RIBIERO
OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a first-year forward from
Salvador, Brazil, has been selected as the SCAC Men's Soccer
Offensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday,
October 18 through Sunday, October 24.
Ribiero scored three of Trinity’s five goals over
the past week, leading the Tigers to victories over Southwestern
and UC-Santa Cruz.
In Thursday’s SCAC win over the Pirates,
Ribiero converted a penalty kick in overtime to
keep the Tigers unbeaten in SCAC play.
On Sunday, with UC-Santa Cruz leading 1-0 early in the first
half, Ribiero was able to tie the game in the 27th
minute. His goal in the 70th minute gave the Tigers a
much-needed insurance goal that helped seal the win.
For the season, Ribiero is now tied for
the team lead with 11 goals scored, and also leads the team with
three game-winning goals – including Thursday’s
game-winner against Southwestern. He is also locked in a
three-way tie for second in points (25).
