Brandon Alexander, Southwestern University, Player of the Week (Week 15)

BRANDON ALEXANDER OF SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY, a senior forward from Inez, Texas, has been named the SCAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for games played from Monday, February 17 through Sunday, February 23.

Alexander carried the Pirates to a pair of victories to clinch a spot in the SCAC Tournament. Alexander averaged a double-double with 22.5 points and 10.0 rebounds per game. Scoring 24 points against Colorado College on Friday while adding a steal, block, and assist. In Saturday's victory Alexander had a double-double of 21 points and 12 rebounds against Johnson & Wales. 

The Pirates were competing for the final tournament seed relying on the pair of victories to claim their spot in the SCAC Tournament. 

 

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior Cedric Harris of Centenary scored 36 and grabbed 19 rebounds in the Gents final two regular season games. Harris had 17 points and 12 rebounds on Friday versus Austin College for his eighth double-double of the season. Harris has scored in double figures in all 25 games. Senior Cooxooeii Black of Colorado College averaged 23.5 points and 7 rebounds per game, finishing the season with 512 points. Black is the third player in conference history to record 1,600 (1,625) or more career points and 700 (724) or more career rebounds. Sophomore Jai Love of Dallas averaged 18.5 points in two games this weekend for the Crusaders. Love paced the Crusaders at SCAC Tournament top-seed Centenary College with 21 points. Freshman Joshua Sanchez of St. Thomas shot 15-of-16 from the field during the Celts 2-0 week. He hit the game-tying basket with six seconds remaining in regulation to help lead the Celts to a 95-94 win over Dallas in overtime. Junior Michael Holland of Austin College wrapped up the season averaging 19.0 points, 8.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 2.0 steals, and 2.0 blocks in a pair of games this weekend. Senior Paul Wells of Schreiner led the Mountaineers to 2-0 week with 18 points points-per-game and 10 rebounds per-game. He had 21 points in the regular season final over Trinity on Saturday. Junior Sebastian Andrade of Texas Lutheran averaged 20.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 6.5 assists per game in leading TLU to a pair of conference home wins over the weekend. Andrade scored 26 and had eight rebounds and six assists in the win over JWU-Denver. He added 14 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists in win over Colorado College.
