KYLE HOWARD OF SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY,  a senior guard from Katy, Texas, has been named the SCAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for games played from Monday, December 9th through Sunday, December 15th. 

Howard hit the biggest shot of the weekend, a game-winning pull-up jumper with one second remaining, to give the Pirates a 66-65 victory over Colorado College to open conference play Saturday afternoon in Colorado Springs. After CC missed from the free-throw line on the front end of a one-and-one opportunity with 10 seconds remaining, Howard brought the ball up from midcourt, used a screen from Trenton Garrett to separate from his defender on the dribble penetration, and calmly buried the 10-footer just outside the lane.
Howard finished the game with 12 points, two rebounds and two assists, and followed that performance with eight points and six rebounds in just 20 minutes of work in Sunday’s 90-66 victory against Johnson & Wales. For the season, Howard is averaging 9.0 points, 3.1 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior CooXooEii Black of Colorado College had a season-best 27 points in home loss to Southwestern. Black was 12 of 16 (.750) from the floor, recording six rebounds, two assists, two steals and two blocks in Saturday's loss. Freshman Trystin Silas of Texas Lutheran scored a career-best 21 points adding four rebounds, an assist and a steal in Saturday's home loss to Sul Ross State. Silas was nine of 16 from the floor and made three of his six three-point shots. Sophomore Ty Prince of Centenary College had a combined 45 points in two games, posting 27 in loss to East Texas Baptist and 18 in win over Lorisiana College. In loss to ETBU Prince recorded a double-double with 27 points and 11 rebounds adding two blocks, one assist, and one steal. Prince has reached double figures in all seven of Centenary's games this season.
