RYAN LUCERO OF
TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a junior left-hander from
Aurora, Colo., has been selected the SCAC Baseball
Pitcher-of-the-Week for games played from Sunday, February 20
through Sunday, February 26.
Lucero finished off the weekend series against
the University of Dallas with a two-hit shutout, completing
Trinity’s two-game SCAC sweep.
Lucero threw a shutout for the second consecutive
outing, which were also the first shutouts of his career with the
Tigers. He struck out a career-high 12 batters in the game, walking
just one.
For the season, Lucero leads Trinity with an ERA
of 0.64, giving up just two runs in 28.1 innings pitched. He
holds a 4-0 record for the Tigers, and has thrown four complete
games in his four starts – including the back-to-back
shutouts against SCAC competition. Opponents are hitting just .124
against him this season, and he has recorded a total of 31
strikeouts.
