ABBY BLANEY OF
HENDRIX COLLEGE, a senior defender from Rogers,
Ark., has been named the SCAC Women's Soccer Defensive
Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday, October 26
through Sunday, November 1.
Blaney led a defensive front that did not allow a
goal this week and picked up a big SCAC win over Austin College on
Friday. The Warriors have not allowed an opponent to score since
Oct. 23 when Sewanee won a 0-1 match.
Blaney guided the Warriors’ past an Austin
College offense that averages 18.0 shots per game and ranks third
2.14 goals scored per game. She had a busy night against the
Kangaroos as the Warriors were outshot 16-7 and the game was sent
into double-overtime.
