ABBY HOLLAND OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a senior forward from Georgetown, Texas, has been named SCAC Women’s Basketball Player-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, Monday, February 3 through Sunday, February 9. 

Holland led the 14th-ranked Tiger women's basketball team to a pair of home wins in SCAC play last weekend, including a win over 19th-ranked Austin College on Saturday night. She scored 18 points in just 15 minutes in a lopsided win over Dallas to start the weekend, adding six rebounds and three steals for the Tigers. And in a game that featured a match-up of top 20 teams, Holland turned in a season-best 28-point effort against Austin College, connecting on 12-of-21 from the field and 2-of-3 from three-point range.

For the weekend, Holland averaged 23.0 points in 26.5 minutes per game for the week, connecting on 57.6% (19-33) from the field and a perfect 6-6 at the free throw line.

This season, Holland leads the Tigers with 18.7 points and 6.4 rebounds per contest and is tied for the team lead with 68 steals (3.2/game). She also moved into second on Trinity's all-time scoring list with more than 1,500 career points with the Tigers.

Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore guard Natalie McCoy of Austin College had an outstanding weekend as she came off the bench to average 17.5 points and 3.5 rebounds while shooting 65% from the field, 75% from three point range, and 85.7% from the free throw line as the 'Roos went 1-1. Senior forward Julia Moore of Colorado College recorded her first-ever double-double with career highs of 16 points and 15 rebounds to help the Tigers roll to a 90-51 victory over Johnson & Wales on Friday night. She also had two assists and a pair of steals as CC improved to 13-8 overall, which is the most victories in a season since the 2011-12 Tigers finished with a 14-12 record. Senior center Cecily Woolfolk of Southwestern averaged a double-double over the weekend of 17 points (on 13.5 free-throw attempts) and 13 rebounds per game. She also averaged three blocks and two steals per game. Senior guard Sheridan Hopkins of St. Thomas averaged a double-double and led the Celts in scoring in each of their two wins this weekend at Texas Lutheran and Southwestern. Her 25.5 points-per-game average was anchored by a 31-point showing at TLU on Friday. The senior shot 40 percent (4 of 10) from three-point range and made 87 percent (13 of 15) of her free throws this week. She also pulled in 14 rebounds at TLU. Junior guard Tara Molina of Texas Lutheran averaged 10.5 points and dished out five assists per game in the Bulldogs' 1-1 week in the SCAC. She scored 12 points and collected eight assists in the 78-64 win over Centenary. She scored nine and had five rebounds and two assists in the three-point loss to St. Thomas. She shot 50 percent from the field and 90 percent from the line for the week.
