CHASE ALMAGUER OF AUSTIN COLLEGE, a senior pitcher from The Woodlands, Texas, has been named the SCAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week for games played through Sunday, March 18th.
Almaguer tossed a no-hitter against Blackburn to improve to 3-0 on the year, as the 'Roos rolled past the Beavers 12-1 in his lone start of the week.
In the game, Almaguer allowed one unearned run after a baserunner reached on an error, but blanked the Beavers otherwise with three strikeouts and only two walks.
For the season, Almaguer has given up just one earned run in 14.0 innings for an earned run average of 0.64.

Senior infielder Cole Lavergne of Centenary College came up big to help the Gents take three from Dallas, its third consecutive season to sweep its first conference series of the year. Senior right-handed pitcher Will Preston of Southwestern University helped the Pirates to a 6-2 win over Blackburn, going 5.0 innings on the mound and allowing just one earned run. Junior pitcher Nathan Malinovsky of Texas Lutheran University tossed a four-hit complete-game shutout Saturday afternoon against Schreiner University, striking out seven and walking just one. Senior right-handed pitcher Kevin Flores of Trinity University went five strong innings in his only outing of the week, leaving the game with an 11-0 lead in the seven-inning game.
