James Nittoli, Trinity University, Pitcher of the Week (Week 6)

JAMES NITTOLI OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a sophomore left-handed pitcher from San Antonio, Texas, has been named the SCAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week for games played through Sunday, March 11th.

Nittoli led seventh-ranked Trinity to a shutout victory in his only appearance last week, defeating Millikin University on Sunday evening.

Nittoli tossed six perfect innings and struck out eight to set the tone, then left the game after Trinity's offense put up all nine of its runs in the first five innings of the game.

For the season, Nittoli is 3-0 with a paltry 0.87 ERA in 20.2 innings of work, recording 22 strikeouts against just one walk, giving up just two earned runs and holding the opposition to a .143 batting average.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Freshman right-handed pitcher Tyler Montemayor of the University of Dallas tossed his longest outing of the season, and limited Blackburn College to a run on four hits while striking out a personal-best seven batters. Junior left-handed pitcher Tyler Polasek of Southwestern University pitched 8.2 innings between two games last week, allowing just three earned runs and striking out eight. Junior right-handed pitcher Nathan Malinovsky of Texas Lutheran University tossed a four-hit shutout for the Bulldogs against the University of Dallas at Texas, striking out five and not allowing any batters past second base.
