Trinity's Arthur Wins NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Trinity University Tigers senior women's cross country runner D'Ann Arthur of Colleyville, Texas (Heritage), has been awarded a $7,500 NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship.

Arthur, who plans to attend medical school, is the 29th Trinity student-athlete to receive the prestigious award. The NCAA ranked Trinity in the top 10 of Division III schools in Postgraduate Scholarship awards. In the fall 2008 awards, Arthur was one of three cross country student-athletes in the nation to earn the scholarship.

An outstanding student, Arthur will receive the Bachelor of Science from Trinity in May. She is a double major in biology and Spanish. Arthur is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Alpha Epsilon Delta, the pre-medical studies honor society.

Arthur won the 2007 NCAA Division III South/Southeast Region Cross Country championship, and was named the regional athlete of the year by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.  She became Trinity's first female student-athlete to win the regional. Arthur went on to nationals, where she placed No. 31.

Last fall, Arthur was part of Trinity's historic women's cross country team. The unranked Tigers placed sixth at the NCAA national meet.
