ELIZABETH KRUG
OF HENDRIX COLLEGE, a first-year from Heber
Springs, Ark., has been selected the SCAC Women's Field
Athlete-of-the-Week for meets conducted from Monday, March 21
through Sunday, March 27.
Krug set two school records this weekend, and had four
personal bests, while qualifying for the NCAA
Championships.
On Thursday, at the Alabama Relays heptathlon, Krug started the day with a 16.82 100-hurdles mark, a season best. In the high jump, Krug cleared 1.55-meters (5-1), a personal best, that makes her third on the conference list. In the shot put she tallied a 9.80-meter (32-2) throw, and is a personal best by two and a half feet.
Krug finished the day with a 26.21 200-meter personal best, the second fastest mark by a Hendrix female, and currently second on the conference performance list.
Friday started with a 4.85-meter long jump and 28.33-meter javelin toss, and concluded with a 2:30.27 800-meter (another personal best) for a total of 4243 points, putting her fourth nationally.
On Saturday Krug joined the rest of the team at Rhodes, and despite the rain, managed to clear 2.95-meters (9-8), good enough for a school record and placing her second on the SCAC list.
