EMILY NIEHAUS OF CENTRE COLLEGE, a sophomore from Cincinnati, Ohio, has been named the SCAC Women’s Track Athlete-of-the-Week for all meets from Monday, March 15 through Sunday, March 21.
Niehaus opened up her 2010 outdoor track season with an amazing toss in the women's hammer throw at the Rhodes Open track & field meet. Emily threw the hammer 52.20m (171'3") to place third in the NCAA Division I dominated event.
Niehaus' throw was a new personal best by almost five feet and has provisionally qualified her for the NCAA Championships in May. Her performance currently ranks her #2 in the nation in Division III.
