CAROLINE KUTACH AND MEGAN FLORES OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, have been named the SCAC Women’s Doubles Team of the Week for matches played from Monday, February 11 through Sunday, February 17.
Kutach, a senior from McGregor, Texas, and Flores, a freshman from Houstin, Texas, went 2-1 overall last week, including a 2-0 record against Division III opponents. The duo began the week with a loss to Division II St. Edward's at No. 1 doubles, but stormed back with a pair of line two victories. The Trinity duo started with an 8-0 win over #27 Whitman late Saturday night, then earned an 8-3 victory over UC-Santa Cruz on Sunday.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Cecile Wilde and Esther Bowers of Southwestern went 3-0 on the week at No. 1 doubles for the Pirates, earning victories against George Fox, Hardin-Simmons and ending the week with a hard-fought 9-7 victory over McMurry's Samantha Ritz and Kaitlyn Roberts. Kara Miller and Katie Smith of Schreiner picked up two victories at No. 1 doubles for the Mountaineers, defeating Payton Burk and Alexandra Kyser of Mary Hardin-Baylor, 8-6, and Alexis Popovich and Claire Austin of Concordia, 8-1.
