NATASHA MARTIN OF JOHNSON & WALES UNIVERSITY, a senior forward from Las Vegas, Nev., has been named the SCAC Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for games played through Sunday, September 8th.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior forward Maya Fuller of Southwestern scored both goals in the Pirates’ 2-1 victory last week against East Texas Baptist. It marked the second time in her career that Fuller has registered multiple goals in a contest. Senior forward Kennedy Sessions of St. Thomas scored the lone goal for the Celts last week in a 1-1 tie at NAIA opponent Our Lady of the Lake. Junior forward Raquel Morris of Texas Lutheran scored what turned out to be the game-winner in the 2-1 victory over Howard Payne. She gave TLU a 2-0 lead in the 54th minute. In the draw with McMurry on Saturday, Morris assisted on the TLU equalizer in the 70th minute. Morris took three shots over the weekend and put one on goal. Sophomore midfielder Kaity Ward of Trinity led the Tigers to a big road win over No. 10 Hardin-Simmons University on Saturday night. Ward scored the game’s opening goal with less than 15 minutes remaining in the first half. She also assisted on the next goal of the game, which came in the 54th minute of action.
