RACHEL BROWN OF SCHREINER UNIVERSITY, a first-year catcher from Willis, Texas, has been named the SCAC Softball Offensive Player of the Week for games played from Monday, February 19 through Sunday, February 25.
Brown was a perfect 5-for-5 this week as the Mountaineers improved to 5-2-1 after sweeping a double-header from McMurry University on Sunday afternoon.
The freshman had three doubles and a home run among her five hits, drove in six runs and scored three times as Schreiner posted identical 9-1 victories over the visiting War Hawks.
For the season, Brown is batting .571 (third in the SCAC) with a league-leading slugging percentage of 1.214.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior third baseman Wendy Gillett of Centenary hit .571, leading the team in both hits (four) and RBI's (three). She managed a hit and an RBI in all three games as the Ladies defeated Grambling on Tuesday before splitting a doubleheader with Huntingdon (Ala.) on Saturday.
