JESSICA VRANA OF SCHREINER UNIVERSITY, a junior pitcher from Jourdanton, Texas, has been named the SCAC Softball Pitcher of the Week for games played through February 5th.
Vrana was 2-0 for the Mountaineers opening weekend, pitching 13.0 innings and posting an ERA of 2.15. Vrana also recorded five strikeouts over the two game period.
The Mountaineers continue their season Monday against Sul Ross State.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior pitcher Tori Herrera of Austin College made four appearances in the circle, and boasting an ERA of 1.98 during her 0-2 week. Junior pitcher Maitlin Raycroft of Texas Lutheran struck out nine batters in seven total innings while allowing just two runs and five hits.
