Rebecca Berreth, Trinity University, Offensive Player of the Week (Week 5)

REBECA BERRETH OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a sophomore shortstop from Pearland, Texas, has been named the SCAC Softball Offensive Player of the Week for games played Monday, February 29th through Sunday, March 6th.

Berreth led Trinity's softball team to a 5-1 record over the past week, including a four-game sweep to begin the SCAC portion of the 2016 schedule. Berreth hit .588 (10-17) for the week, collecting a hit in each of the six games last week. She scored six runs and drove in four more, collecting two triples and a home run for a slugging percentage of 1.176 for the week.

Against Southwestern, Berreth had two hits in each game, going 8-12 (.667) in the four-game sweep. On Sunday, Berreth knocked in the game-winning run in both ends of the doubleheader against the Pirates, pushing the Tigers to a pair of one-run games. She hit a fifth-inning home run to break a 3-3 tie in the first game of the DH, then drove home a run with a bases-loaded sacrifice fly to give Trinity a 3-1 lead at the time. That run proved to be crucial after the Pirates scored in the seventh to make it a 3-2 final.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior second baseman Megan Armistead of Texas Lutheran hit .636, stole seven bases and scored three runs as the Bulldogs swept a pair of doubleheaders against Staten Island and Calumet College of St. Joseph. Sophomore second baseman Michelle Tasin of Centenary College had an RBI or run scored in every game, and has extended her hitting streak to 14 games to begin 2016. Senior shortstop Erin Begle of Dallas smacked a hit in all four games, including a 3-for-4 performance in the second contest of Saturday's 3-2 victory at Centenary College.
