SARAH PALLER OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a junior third baseman from Live Oak, Texas, has been named the SCAC Softball Offensive Player of the Week for games played Monday, February 15th through Sunday February 21st.
Paller had a strong start to the 2016 season over the weekend, leading the Tigers to a 2-2 record on their California road trip. Paller led Trinity with a .583 batting average for the week, going 7-12 with three runs scored and five RBI. She had two doubles and a home run among her seven hits, and also drew threw walks to boost her on-base percentage to .667 for the weekend.
In the season opener at Redlands, Paller went 3-4 with two RBI as the Tigers came up short in a 10-6 loss. She finished the weekend with another 3-4 performance in a 7-2 win at Occidental, completing the doubleheader sweep.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior infielder Sophia Hernandez of Austin College had a huge weekend at the plate, batting .800 in two games with a double, a triple, and a home run as the 'Roos went 2-0. Freshman third baseman Melanie Savala of Dallas continued her hot start to her collegiate career with five hits in 10 at-bats her second weekend of the campaign. Freshman catcher Amelia Fuchs of Southwestern his .500 with 4 RBI in four games last week. Sophomore shortstop Anna Dunn of Centenary College belted her first home run of the season to put Centenary up 4-0 in game 2 against Rust.
