Southwestern Defeats Dallas to Stave Off Elimination

The Pirates got a pair of 2-for-5, two RBI days from Michelle Ramos and Marissa Irvin in the win. Berkeley Bacon, Ashleigh Scott, and Ally Holland all had two hits each with Scott and Ramos scoring two runs.

Southwestern (18-20, 12-9 SCAC) blew things open in the fifth as Ramos and Irvin had RBI singles and Scott was successful on a double steal to take an 8-2 lead.

Dallas (20-16, 13-9 SCAC) would fight back, scoring four in the bottom of the fifth, but Cozette Palmer slammed the door on the Crusaders to earn the victory.

Palmer improved to 12-12 on the season, earning her second win of the postseason. She pitched 6.1 innings, allowing only three earned runs on six hits to go with seven strikeouts on the day. Palmer would exit the game in the fifth, but return in the sixth.

Katie Lee (19-12) took the loss for Dallas, only allowing four earned runs on 11 hits while striking out two.

For the Crusaders, Ciara Stewart led the way, going 2-for-2 with a double and three RBI. Madison Goforth, Taylor Garcia, and Erin Begle all drove in a run as well.

The Pirates move on to the face the winner of Austin College and Schreiner today at 4 p.m. in an elimination game. Meanwhile, the Crusaders series comes to a close at 20-16.
