Wellik pitched 6.0 innings, only allowing one run on one hit, striking out four and walking only one in the process as she was completely dominant throughout most of the contest.

She got plenty of help from her defense, who committed no errors on the day and got outstanding diving catches from outfielders MacKenzie Hill, Emily Fleischman, and Haby.

Offensively, Trinity jumped out to a 2-0 lead thanks to a RBI single from Haby after Dykes tripled with two outs. The Tigers got another run on the board thanks to a Mountaineer error, something they did not commit earlier in the day in their 4-2 win over Dallas.

Haby added her second RBI of the day in the third inning off a sacrifice fly to make it 3-0.

Dykes broke the game wide open in the fourth with a bases loaded, two RBI double to put Trinity in complete control.

Schreiner would mount a rally, finally getting to Wellik in the sixth and getting a huge three run home run from Lorena Espinoza in the seventh. But Katie Castillon ended the rally and gave Trinity the victory.

Dykes finished 2-for-3 with a double, triple, two RBI, and a run scored while Hilary Hoffman also added a pair of hits and a RBI. Haby drove in two runs while Hill scored two times. Sabrina Nieto and Lauren Mercado each had a pair of hits as well.

Dom Sandoval took the loss for Schreiner, pitching all six innings for the Mountaineers and allowing three earned runs on nine hits. Espinoza led the offense with her three RBI while Sandoval also drove in a run.

Trinity will face Texas Lutheran tomorrow afternoon at 2 p.m. with the winner moving on to the SCAC Softball Championship Game. Meanwhile, Schreiner moves to an elimination game, taking on Austin College tomorrow at 12 p.m.
