Espinoza threw a complete game, allowing two runs on five hits and only walking two despite no strikeouts in the contest. She got an excellent effort from the Mountaineers (8-29, 6-16 SCAC) defense, who committed no errors on the day and made fantastic plays throughout the game.

Samantha Cordon and Sydney Christopher got the scoring started with back-to-back RBI doubles to run out to a 2-0 lead. A RBI groundout by Daneece Stewart in the second gave the Mountaineers a 3-0 lead after 1.5 innings.

It was all Espinoza would need as she silenced the Crusaderes bats, allowing no runs in the final four innings.

Dom Sandoval led the way offensively, going 3-for-4 with two doubles while Christopher was 2-for-3 with a RBI.

For the Crusaders (20-15, 13-9 SCAC), Ashley Pickert was saddled the loss, pitching all seven innings and allowing only three earned runs on eight hits. Lyda Tesauro led the way offensively, going 3-for-3 with a double while Taylor Garcia drove in a run.

Schreiner moves into the winner's bracket and will take on No. 2 seed Trinity University tonight at 6 p.m. The University of Dallas will play in an elimination game tomorrow at 10 a.m. against the loser of Southwestern and Texas Lutheran.
