STARKVILLE, Miss. - The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) placed 19 student-athletes on the 2009 Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division III All-Region teams. Rhodes College placed a league-high six players on the All-Region teams followed closely by DePauw University which placed five on the All-Region teams.
The SCAC was well represented as a league. Not only did 19 student-athletes make the teams, but seven of the league's 11 softball teams had at least one student-athlete selected. Birmingham-Southern College (4), Hendrix College (1), Millsaps College (1), Southwestern University (1), and Trinity University (1) joined Rhodes and DePauw with being represented on the All-Region teams.
Five student-athletes were named First-Team All-Region including Rhodes' Sara Bowen (Atlantic Region Utility), Birmingham-Southern's Jena Franks (Atlantic Region At-Large), DePauw's Jennifer Kosinski (Central Region Designate Player), DePauw's Megan Soultz (Central Region At-Large) and Rhodes' Elise Suna (Atlantic Region Outfield).
