JACKSON
BRAINERD OF COLORADO COLLEGE, a sophomore from
Littleton, Colo., has been selected the SCAC Men's Cross Country
Runner-of-the-Week for meets run through Saturday, October 10.
It is the second consecutive week and third time in
2009 Brainerd has earned SCAC
Runner-of-the-Week honors. He is the first runner in conference
history to earn three ROTW awards in one season.
At the Fort Hays Invite in Hays, Kansas, Brainerd
paced the Tigers with a personal-best time of 25:04.12, good for a
sixth-place individual finish (fourth place team finish). The
8-team, 102 person field was composed of mostly NAIA, NCAA Division
I & Division II colleges. Brainerd has now
finished in the top 10 individually and led CC at all four meets
this season. With his time, he moves closer to breaking the 25:00
minute barrier, a feat that only four other CC runners have ever
achieved.
