CHRISTIAN SETTLES OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a sophomore from Claremont, Calif., has been selected the SCAC Men’s Tennis Player of the Week for matches played from Monday, February 17 through Sunday, February 17.
Settles led the 13th-ranked Tiger men’s tennis team to a 3-0 record over the weekend, including two wins over ranked teams. Settles played in three different singles positions over the weekend, winning at No. 2 singles, No. 4 singles, and No. 5 singles. He began the weekend by winning the clincher at line four against No. 39 Cal Lutheran on Saturday. Settles moved up two line two for a match against Concordia later in the day, putting the Tigers up 4-0 with the first singles win of the match. On Sunday against No. 16 Pomona-Pitzer, Settles clinched the match for the Tigers with his victory at line five. This season, Settles is now 6-2 in singles play and has won five consecutive singles matches.

Senior Matthew Jimenez of Schreiner posted a 1-1 record last week, picking up a come from behind 7-5, 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles to help lead the Mountaineers to a 6-3 win over Mary Hardin-Baylor last Saturday.
