SHAMZI ALKAFF OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a freshman, from Fort Collins, Colo. has been selected the SCAC Men's Swimmer of the Week for his performance in meets through Sunday, January 28th.
Alkaff led Trinity to a combined men's and women's victory over Centre College and Birmingham-Southern College in a tri-meet held in Nashville, Tennessee.
Alkaff paced Trinity's winning 400 medley relay team with his time of 52.8 in the butterfly, then was the second leg of the winning 400 relay team. He was also the 50 free champion with his time of 21.79 seconds, and was second in the 100 free with a time of 48.42 seconds.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
First-year Noah Stopkotte of Trinity University took top-honors in the 200-yard breaststroke. Senior Michael Flover of Southwestern University earned a first-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke in 54.26 seconds.
