Donnovan Smith, Trinity University, Offensive Player of the Week (Week 6)
DONNOVAN SMITH OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a first-year forward from Katy, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Men's Soccer Offensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday, October 3rd through Sunday, October 9th.

Smith led the top-ranked Tigers to a pair of road wins in SCAC play last weekend, highlighted by a comeback victory against 19th-ranked Colorado College.

The freshman scored the biggest goal in the biggest game of the weekend, finding the net against Colorado in the 87th minute to cap an incredible come-from-behind win for the Tigers.

Trinity equalized with just under 10 minutes to play, then Smith punched in the game-winning score with less than four minutes remaining. He also chipped in an assist to cap the win over Dallas on Sunday.

Both the goal and the assist were the first of the season for Smith, who also scored the first game-winner of his career in dramatic fashion.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior midfielder Joel Frykholm of Colorado College scored three of the Tigers' five goals last week to help CC split a pair of conference games. In Friday's Top 25 tilt against top-ranked Trinity, not only did he give CC a 1-0 lead, but his two-way play helped Colorado College dominate the game for 80 minutes. On Sunday against Schreiner, he recorded the first brace of his career to lead the Tigers to a 4-0 victory. The junior midfielder now is tied for second on the team with three goals, is third with eight points and tied for third with a pair of assists. Junior forward Thomas Quick of Austin College had a big weekend for the 'Roos, including scoring once and assisting on the game-winner in a big victory over Southwestern. Quick was a consistent offensive threat throughout the weekend, with his ability to attack and hold possession a key part in the 'Roos going 2-0. First-year forward Guillermo Guerra of Texas Lutheran University scored his first collegiate goal, and it was the game-winner for TLU in a 1-0 win at Centenary. Guerra scored in the 87th minute off a corner kick from Colin Nunley. Guerra had three shots on goal during the week and a total of six shots. First-year defender Nicholas Vega of the University of Dallas scored the equalizer goal that eventually kept the Crusaders in a 1-1 draw with Schreiner on Friday. Vega tallied his first collegiate goal in the 84th minute to lock the scoreboard even.
