COLTON ALLEN OF THE UNIVERSITY OF DALLAS, a junior forward from Roanoke, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Men’s Soccer Player of the Week for matches played Friday, August 29 through Monday, September 1.
Allen had a hand in both of the wins for the Crusaders this weekend, scoring the team’s only goal in a 1-0 shutout of Concordia University (Texas) and adding another goal and an assist in the 3-0 win over Southwestern University (Kan.) to total five points on the weekend.
Allen recorded 17 shots over the two games,
eight of which were on goal, for a .471 shot-on-goal
percentage.
Other outstanding
performances in the SCAC:
Freshman midfielder Tim Huettel
of Colorado College put in one goal against
Occidental and recorded two assists in the Tigers' match with Mary
HardinBaylor. Freshman midfielder/forward Ivann
Amaya of Centenary recorded two goals on just three
shots in the opening weekend of his collegiate
career. Freshman
midfielder Christian Lopez of Southwestern also
served as a substitute, but played fearlessly in running at goal.
He was the Pirates most creative offensive player all
weekend. Junior
midfielder Isaac Lopez of Texas Lutheran scored one
goal in the Bulldogs shutout of Howard Payne University and
also recorded an assist. Freshman defender Brent
Mandelkorn of Trinity put in two goals against St.
Scholastica and Washington University, including the game-winner
against the latter team. Austin College and
Schreiner did not nominate anyone.
