Colton Allen, University of Dallas, Men's Soccer - Offensive Player of the Week (Week 1)

COLTON ALLEN OF THE UNIVERSITY OF DALLAS, a junior forward from Roanoke, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Men’s Soccer Player of the Week for matches played Friday, August 29 through Monday, September 1.

Allen had a hand in both of the wins for the Crusaders this weekend, scoring the team’s only goal in a 1-0 shutout of Concordia University (Texas) and adding another goal and an assist in the 3-0 win over Southwestern University (Kan.) to total five points on the weekend.

Allen recorded 17 shots over the two games, eight of which were on goal, for a .471 shot-on-goal percentage.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Freshman midfielder Tim Huettel of Colorado College put in one goal against Occidental and recorded two assists in the Tigers' match with Mary HardinBaylor. Freshman midfielder/forward Ivann Amaya of Centenary recorded two goals on just three shots in the opening weekend of his collegiate career. Freshman midfielder Christian Lopez of Southwestern also served as a substitute, but played fearlessly in running at goal. He was the Pirates most creative offensive player all weekend. Junior midfielder Isaac Lopez of Texas Lutheran scored one goal in the Bulldogs shutout of Howard Payne University and also recorded an assist. Freshman defender Brent Mandelkorn of Trinity put in two goals against St. Scholastica and Washington University, including the game-winner against the latter team. Austin College and Schreiner did not nominate anyone.
